Past, Present & Future of KCS

Founder and Owner of Kort’s Construction Services, Inc., Kort Wittich is an alumnus of St. Paul’s High School and Southeastern Louisiana University, having graduated from Southeastern with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance.

In 2000, Kort was employed with St. Tammany Parish Fire District #4 and worked in the construction industry on his days off. He started simple, with a Dodge pickup and a Bobcat skid-steer. After a short time, Kort purchased a bobtail dump truck with much of his work acquired through residential contractors providing material, filling and grading yards. Later, he purchased a triaxle dump which he also operated for several years, performing contract hauling.

Over time, Kort acquired more equipment and expanded his residential services to include constructing house pads, roads, driveways, and ponds. He eventually obtained his contractor’s license and struck out on his own. In 2008, after considerable growth of the company, Kort resigned from the fire department and dedicated his full attention to the business. After years spent gaining the hands-on knowledge and experience to perform commercial construction Kort evolved the company from a small residential site work contracting company into a large commercial site contractor.

Kort spends his time in the office overseeing company operations and takes a hands-on approach in every aspect of the company; from Estimating, Contract Agreements, Project Management and Scheduling to Financials, Bonding, Payroll, and Insurance. He strives to ensure that the company continues to evolve and grow, providing communities with jobs and quality construction work.

Today Kort’s Construction Services is a heavy civil contractor with a large focus on building roadways, installing drainage and all types of concrete work consistent with roadway construction. Most of our work comes from state/federal funded projects and also local parish and municipality funded work.

Moving forward, our goals are to continue to excel in current areas of expertise and to expand our reach into both the private sector as well as plant work ,in order to diversify for a successful future. In addition, we will strive to hire the best team, train for a safer working environment and provide them with additional benefits.
